Day 73 in Japan - Hey there, Big Boy.

The days seem to be flying by at the moment! Could be something to do with my early bed time last night, but I can't believe it has been two-and-a-half weeks since rafting! Someone asked me today what I did on the weekend, and I told them I went rafting. THEY had to correct me to tell me that I did that last weekend. Duh.

I felt a fair bit better today - well enough to function properly, at least. Classes were all good, ESS speech practise was long but fruitful, and after school Sam and I resumed our Tuesday night study/food. Except that tonight's study session was really more food/study (and not the other way around). We went to Big Boy - an American steakhouse chain that seems to have performed really well in Japan. They are the ones with the creepy boy mascot - you know the one.

Anyway, we headed to here straight after work, and were the only ones in the restaurant. Turns out that Big Boy has both drink bar AND salad bar, and thus beats both Cafe Gusto (diner-style) and Saizeriya (dodgy Italian-style), which only have drink bar. I got a hamburger steak thing, which comes with a hot rock so that you can cook it to your style (i.e. slice a bit off, and hold it on the rock until it's cooked). But Sam got a glorious and horrible thing - a hamburger steak filled with cheese. And topped with cheese. Yes, a double cheese hamburger steak. And that's why I will live longer than Sam (slightly).

Because Sam wasn't satisfied with increasing his risk of heart disease so slightly, he also ordered a huge ice-creamy dessert (which I ate half of, evening our odds). I had to include the photo below, partially because I think that photos of Sam with his mouth open are hilarious. But mostly because I like the way the small focal length of my camera has made Sam's head seem HUGE!!!

I called Lovey from my phone via Skype (woo cheap International calls when on the go) while riding my bike home from the restaurant (it's the future), and had a nice chat. Then home, a spot of cleaning and letter reading, blogging, and then I hit full stop.

Food Highlight of the Day: Caramel macchiato from the Big Boy drink bar - I thought I was going to get something else, and it was a delightful surprise to end up with a cupful of sweet, coffee-ish frothy deliciousness.
