Day 131 in Japan - Shitty, Shitty Shimizu Day

So it's supposed to be winter, but there are more bugs than ever on my way to school - they keep getting in my eyes on my bike ride home. Today, I swallowed one.

The usual Shimizu deal today - walked in having convinced myself that today could be a shiny new day, only to have the random "Thing That Will Make Your Day Crap" of the day piled on my before I could even sit at my desk (the person who I thought was making the other half of the test apparently doesn't want to, so it would be good if I got it done by this afternoon. Yeah. Red Swingline stapler). MY first class was fun - I love the 1-1 class that I have at Shimizu. They are a really good bunch of kids, and there are two boys that pretty much sit there the whole class and make kissing faces at each other (although they are good students, and always the first to answer questions, so I mostly let them get away with it). They are a good pick-me-up for the class when things get a bit quiet - I just stop and watch them for a moment (so the rest of the class does as well), and after a few seconds of silence, they realise that they are the centre of attention and go all bashful. Today, we had to get through some boring translations, so I decided to get them to play TRANSLATION CHALLENGE (Yeah, I made it up on the spot). I split the class in half, and there was one English side and one Japanese side (switched halfway through). Anyone could volunteer to choose one half of a translation, and challenge one person (from the other half of the room) for a translation. It ended up being surprisingly fun, as the kids struck Phoenix Wright poses to ask for English/Japanese translations. I just wish that these students weren't being disadvantaged by having half as many classes in OC1, a SUPERLAZY teacher, and the same test as the other classes :(
Bleak and recently turned over to destroy everything living inside.
Photo metaphor for my day. And also the field outside my house.
Big 30 Rock binge tonight, as well as sending off a few science emails. I waited for Sam to go home from work at 9, and we did a late night supermarket run. On the way home, we found a door thing that looked like Ned Kelly.
Doesn't it look like Ned Kelly?
Food Highlight of the Day: Dessert of 3 spoons of whipped cream, straight from the squeezy bag (I'm not proud, but it was delicious).
