Welcome to Singapore!

I thought I might have a go at resurrecting this blog, as last time I found that it was a good way to keep whoever was interested in what I'd been up to, and now I'M IN SINGAPORE!

So, as a first post, I guess I should talk a little about the why, when and where. Eoin found an awesome "won't get it but may as well apply" dream job here in Singapore, working at the Institute for Sport Research, Nanyang Technological University, so to Singapore we came! Eoin moved here in early February, and I just arrived last week (23rd March, according to the piece of paper in my passport) hoping that the job I have lined up comes through but expecting to have to do a visa run to Malaysia sometime in the next 30 days. Thats the why and when, now for the where.

We're both at NTU (Nanyang Technological University - these acronyms are going to get worse once I start work!), so Eoin found us a great place in the West of Singapore - right near Chinese Gardens MRT (train) station. We live in a CONDO (get me a perm and I'm Miami Vice) meaning we have a pool (awesome!), gym (untested), driving range (really?), putting green, squash court, table tennis, reading rooms and a bunch of other stuff we're not likely to ever use. We are at Parc Oasis (bunch of not fantastic photos here) and I'll take some photos of the inside of our place to put up soon. For now, I'll just throw up some random photos of bits of Singapore from the apartment scouting mission.

Yay! We would later learn that our happy reunion was in the middle of the prosti-rootin-tootinest area of Singapore (Geylang), and this street would be totally lined with ladies and near-ladies of the night-afternoon.

Yay for the return of your blog! I love the way you are so descriptive in your writing it's like I could be there myself. Your Miami Vice place sounds awesome, you have to give the driving range a go at least once. Love love love these bits:
* lady of the night street (a bit Wentworth St Warrawong?)
* Kickapoo (I would be drinking that constantly)
* Brilion (perfect shot!)
Fingers crossed the job works out well. Would you and Eoin both be working at NTU? Looking forward to the next blog installment.

Thanks Cros! Hope I can keep up some time to write once work starts! Hopefully, I'll be working at NTU as well - Eoin's been working there a few weeks now. I've been accepted for a job by a research group, but my paperwork is still with HR, so I have to leave my fingers crossed for a few more days/weeks yet. Have been repeatedly reassured that it should just be a matter of waiting, but we'll see.

Oh, I love it. You are hilarious Bri; love your writing. Super happy to hear things are going well for you so far and big hugs for you both!
PS There's a crazy storm happening in Wollongong right now, with rain and flashes of lightning and crashing thunder aplenty. In case you happened to be wondering what the weather is doing here. :)
