Today I was at Akashi Shimizu (a.k.a. the hard school). It was actually an OK day - no fake suicide attempts in my culture class, and I had the last real class of the year with one of the better first year classes. But it was definitely a difficult day - chaotic from the beginning to the end with no lunch break (and not even any time for a desperately needed toilet break before the end of the day).
And Mum and Dad went to the beach. I can't WAIT to retire! To stretch out Dad's back, they went for a walk down to the ocean (probably about an hour or so walk), and headed along what can romantically be called the promenade (or realistically called a concrete path along a rather industrial looking waterfront area) towards Akashi. I looked longingly at the following photos when I got home. That reminds me - I have to really start pumping money into superannuation...

A few photos from Mum and Dad's day at the beach |
When they got home from their gallivanting (and I returned, weary, from my serious adult job) we had a bit of a cooking lesson - I taught them how to make Nikujaga (Japanese meat and potatoes). We started planning our Kyoto trip in a bit more detail, I introduced Mum to the joys of the kotatsu (she wasn't very impressed).
Food Highlight of the Day: Meltykiss chocolates with green tea centres - I bought them by accident, but they ended up being quite nice and introducing Dad to the world of green-tea flavoured confectionery.
