Day 86 in Japan - Capital!

Shinkansen to Tokyo with Aaron and Corey at a respectable hour. Met a nice lady on train from Shin Kobe to Tokyo and talked with her the whole three plus hour journey. Gospel choir date with her group is locked in!
Not sitting together on the shink was a little sad.
My new friend - she is a pharameutical company manager on her way to Tokyo for business.
T. O. K. Y. O. (Sorry, this will be Tokyo in dot points - too much happened to write about in decent detail)

Staying with Aaron and Corey in the Peninsula Hotel.  Beautiful. Honestly the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. Checked in, then back out door to the waiting arms of the city.

View from Aaron and Corey's hotel room window.
Walked through ginza a little to a train station, the caught subway to Akihabara. The Hibiya Line, I think? Hot dog and beer for lunch, then discovered area west of the station. And YODOBASHI CAMERA. Deserves all caps. Epic. Gachapon and Gundam model shopping. Robot shop Fletch would die for.
The bottle collection at our lunch venue.
Akihabara.
The robot shop in Akihabara for Fletch.
Akihabara.
So where are we again?
A Ghibli-filled cabinet. It was so, so beautiful.
Harajuku girls have nothing on us. Oh yeah.
Yodobashi camera from the outside (cue 2001 music)
Inside Yodobashi camera
The elevator to the games level (FFXIII for Sam)
Taxi back to hotel to get ready for dinner. Consuela the room turn down lady came to give us an iron. Wonderful shower - like buckets of water being poured on you. With a seat :)

Night view from the hotel room.
Aaron's haul of stuff from vending machines.
Bad photo of the hotel room.
Dinner! Gonpachi near Roppongi - the restaurant that inspired Kill Bill. Nice waitress, pretty delicious food, and a really cool setting. Favourite were the beef skewers. Cocktails nice too. Had mojitos. When we said food was delicious, waitress brought out chef to meet us and he gave us his meishi. Was pretty sweet.

The delicious Gonpachi food.
Went to Tokyo tower to take in the night views of Tokyo. They were absolutely breathtaking.

Tokyo Tower from the bottom - it's modelled on the Eiffel Tower, but it's a little taller.
I like this intersection, because it makes the Kanji for "big" (大 - ooki)
Looking over towards Ginza - the most lit up part of the city.
Our hotel is over in that direction (it is lit up pink).
Headed back to the hotel bar for a cocktail before bed. Sweet view from bar and toilet, and really interesting cocktails (Corey's silver powder concoction was particularly unusual, although not particularly edible).
The roof of the Peninsula Hotel - this photo cost me my dignity.
I was looking up to take it, so I didn't notice the small raised platform
that the art centrepiece thing was sitting on. So yeah, tripped and made a scene
in the middle of this really posh foyer. I lost a shoe.
Waiting for cocktails.
They finally arrive! Wow. Amazing (except the blue one which was weird).

Late night cartoons and odd tv in the boys lovely room. Bed so comfy. There are springs. FIRST SPRINGS IN TWO MONTHS!! WHOOO!!

Food Highlight of the Day: Kill Bill Restaurant beef skewers.
