Day 108 in Japan - The Hobbiest of Goblins

Work today was a pretty typical affair, except that one of the teachers forgot that he had class with me, so I was standing in the classroom by myself for 5 minutes, waiting for the teacher and a class to show up. I ended up running around the school for another 15 minutes trying to find where they were (they weren't in the homeroom or any of the normal "spare" classrooms), before finally hearing his voice in a chemistry lab! So now I will have a makeup lesson later on for those guys. I wish I had know I was going to have a spare period, and not spent all of that precious downtime running around the hallways. I also had an "Open High School" Day, where we had a bunch of Junior High School students come to tour through our school to see if they would like to come here. I did a fake English lesson with them, and I am SUPER impressed at the level of their English. We had a fun lesson - introducing ourselves to each other, doing silly interviews and playing Jeopardy.

After school, Mum and I had a bit of a bike ride together. After a bit of a practise around the carpark (and switching bikes, because she reckons that my seat is too low), we headed back up to Akashi kita, so that she could see where my school is. It got dark and really cold while we were out riding, so the downhill ride home was a little less enjoyable than usual.

When we got back, we walked (or hobbled, in Dad's case) down to the train station to head into Sannomiya for dinner. We met up with Jodie for dinner and ended up going to the closest available place that I knew Dad would like - the Hobgoblin Pub. And he took to it like a Dad to an English-style pub! Got friendly greetings from Frankie the cook on the way in, and it turned out to be Steak and Chips night. Heaven. We just got to the end of Happy Hour as well, so we got in a few pints of Hobgoblin Dark Ale (Dad) and Aspall Cider (me) at a pretty decent price! It was a really good night, and I think it made Dad forget about his back pain for a little while. I also think Dad now has as many friends in Japan as I do, and he's been here 4 full days compared to my 3 (and a bit) full months. Bloody Dad. Finished it off with Haagen Daaz icecream (pumpkin flavoured icecream, anyone), and a packed train home.

Food Highlight of the Day: The steak from the Hobgoblin pub was a real steak - no hamburger patties in sight!

Ah! Black Angus steak cooked to perfection (thanks Frankie), real beer and good company. Bliss.
My favouritest pub in Japan (so far).
